Guitar Thrills Review:
Before reviewing the AFO300CE I had hopes that it would be an amazing sound. A carbon fiber backing sounded appealing. The guitar is a hybrid and is suitable as an acoustic or an electric component. Out of the box, I had to tune the guitar. Which is not out of the ordinary. Though, I have reviewed some high-end models that came tuned out of the box. Does this imply that that the guitar is going to be bad, no, not at all. There are two things that could have happened here.
Guitar Thrills Broadcast
1. The manufacturer is not focused on the smallest of details.
2. Maybe it was tuned, and the machine heads are not high quality, and the guitar became out of tune during shipping. So, overlooked it. At least until I finished reviewing the rest of the Winzz AFO300CE.
I reviewed the build of the guitar, and there were no structural issues. Neck was good, and so was the head stock. The strings were at the right height for my playing style. Before I got into playing it, I had issues with the guitar staying on my knee as I attempted to strum. The back of the guitar has a round shape. Which is common with hybrids. Though, I never had issues with them sliding off my knee. I made several adjustments to accommodate the AFO3000. Which unnecessarily required a strap to hold the guitar in place. This may have worked if I planned on standing up while playing the guitar, but I shouldn’t have too. A guitar strap is suggested with playing some acoustic guitars. However, this is only to ensure that you are holding the guitar correctly. Again, a strap is not required to play an acoustic or electric guitar. The lack of stability could be from the material used. Either the Carbon fiber material, or the high gloss finish.
Certainly, the AFO300 sounded good? Well, there is a saying that “it’s not the guitar it’s’ the guitar player”. I totally disagree. There are guitars that are horribly made, and no amount of skill will change the way they sound.
Once I hooked up the AFO300 through a Xvive wireless system, the sound quality improved. However, it required adjustments in the amp that was used. Which was a Marshall DS40. I use the amp on all of my reviews.
The retail price of the guitar is 359.99. So, it is an inexpensive solution. It is worth noting that the AFO300 is made for beginners to intermediate skill sets. However, I have a HUGE problem with guitars that are not made well with the attempt to sell them to consumers that do not know how a guitar should sound.
It is important to note that low-end guitars from all brands will have quality issues. Which is the reason why they are sold at low cost. For instance, the Fender Dreadnought. An acoustic guitar that is made for beginners, that is less to be desired. The question remains, is the issue with the Winzz AFO300 specific to this guitar? Would an exchange for a different version of the same model make a difference? I don’t think so. However, I suggest skipping the AFO300 and going to the Winzz WINZZ Thin Body Steel Strings Electric Guitar - Slim Design.
