The Roadie Coach is an example of how easy guitar practicing | lessons can be from anywhere you are. No longer do you have to be in a specific setting or in front of a guitar teacher to be trained on the concepts of guitar. Your time is extremely important to you. So a product like the Roadie Coach is conducive to the way you plan and prepare to practice vital guitar concepts.
The device is a small block made of plastic with a built-in color touch screen and a clamp that you can use to attach it to your instrument. One side of the Roadie Coach has a padded contact microphone that touches the bottom of the guitar. There are also AUX-IN and AUX-OUT jacks that you can use to connect pickup-equipped instruments and external microphones, headphones, etc. Note that there’s also a regular microphone on top of the device.
There was a little concern about clamping something to my acoustic and scratching or even cracking it. But the insides of the clamps are padded, so they should not scratch your instrument. It’s also important not to squeeze the clamps together too tightly. When you close the latch, it will automatically squeeze the ends together slightly to create a secure hold. I found that you need to bring the ends of the clamps to where they are just touching the front and back of the instrument, and then you can close the latch.
Is the Roadie Coach for everyone?
This is the questions I had going into the review of the Roadie Coach. There is familiar devises that are not conducive to beginners and intermediate guitar players. Don’t get me wrong, the Roadie Coach is set up to take beginners through stages of their program. However, it doesn’t provide for the hand holding that many beginners need. After the fair price of the device at 199.00, you still need to purchase additional features from the app. $40.00 per month to get additional features is outrageous. There are online guitar teachers that will charge between 29.00 and 57.00 per month. The upside to having a guitar teacher, is that they will provide the needed attention that beginners need. I reviewed this device with guitar players with all skill levels in mind.
The upside to having this device is traveling and ease of use. I can’t complain about the interface, ad it is intuitive to users with all types of experience. I personally will travel with the Roadie Coach, and it will be one of the items that will be a priority on trips wherever my Guitar and I will travel. There are other brands that make this type of device. However, the quality is not quite up to standard. Which makes the Roadie Coach stand out from the competition. If you are an experienced guitarist this device is for you. As I continue to work with this device I will make updates accordingly. Longevity of any device is always key to a lasting experience.
